Garden Room Malahide Project

LOCATION  MALAHIDE

This garden room was created as an outdoor office and studio in a typical sized small to medium garden in Malahide. All the glazing and door sizes were designed to maximise the use of the interior space and create garden views. With triple glazing and under floor heating this space is very comfortable and quiet, ideal to focus on work or to have some personal zen space!

Client Review – We worked with Kevin and his excellent team to build a home office/ studio in July 2020 in our Malahide garden. It was a great experience throughout, from the design consultations, to the choosing of materials, to the execution. We had reviewed a number of other garden room providers in advance, but Kevin’s ability to design the studio tailored to our garden space, to make full use of the natural light, with such a high-end finish, and on budget, made this the best decision we could have made. The studio has a Shou Sugi Ban, charred black timber cladding exterior, which blends into the garden and dissolves into the darkness. The idea was that it complements the surroundings rather than stand out. Even the exterior lighting was carefully considered by the team to create a warm and inviting space. The interior is bright and airy, full of natural light during the day. The room has amazing insulation and by using the thermostat controlled underfloor heating in winter for an hour in the morning the room retains all of the heat through out the day and into the evening, even on the coldest days. We are so grateful that we chose to build a separate garden room, and could not be happier with the quality produced by Kevin and his team. It provides for the perfect retreat, whether that is garden office, workshop or studio.
